Unbeaten home record comes to an end

Real Oviedo's unbeaten home record came to an end as they went down 2-1 at home to ten man Girona at the Carlos Tartiere.
Sergio Egea named the same starting eleven that were victorious last week in Tenerife.
Oviedo took the lead on 28 minutes when Susaeta whipped in a corner and Borja Valle out-muscled his man to head home past Becerra.
This unfortunately was as good as it got for Oviedo as the afternoon went downhill from there. Especially for Borja Valle as just four minutes after scoring, his match came to a premature end as he hobbled off visibly upset at his injury which at first signs appear to be knee ligament damage. He will undergo tests and scans over the next few days to determine the full extent of his injury. We hope it’s not as bad as feared.
Just six minutes later and the visitors levelled. Susaeta's clumsy challenge inside the box on Mata meant the referee pointed to the spot and Alex Granell beat Esteban to level things up.
The score remained 1-1 until the 66th minute when Javi Alamo did well down the right and whipped in a low cross to the far post and there was Mata who tapped in to give the visitors the lead.
Girona went down to ten men on 75 minutes when Ruben Alcaraz picked up a second yellow card. Oviedo pushed for an equaliser but the ten men held firm and secured the win.
Next week sees the first of three consecutive Sunday morning games as we travel south to face Elche.
