Real Oviedo 2 Valladolid 1

Real Oviedo into the next round of the cup

Real Oviedo saw off ten-man Valladolid at the Carlos Tartiere after a 2-1 victory

Real Oviedo saw off ten-man Valladolid at the Carlos Tartiere after a 2-1 victory. A penalty from Debutant Toche and a strike from Hervias were enough for Los Carbayones.
Sergio Egea saw this as an opportunity to shuffle his pack and made nine changes from Sundays win over Albacete. Only Hervias and Borja Gomes remained in the line up from Sunday.
After an opening first half where chances were few and far between the game burst into life five minutes into the second half.
Juanpe pulled back Toche on the edge of the 6-yard box as the striker was about to shoot with the goal at his mercy. The referee had no choice but to point to the spot and send off Juanpe leaving the visitors down to 10 men. Toche put his spot kick straight down the middle to give Oviedo the lead.
Four minutes later and Los Carbayones doubled their lead. After Valladolid sloppily gave the ball away 25 yards from goal, Hervias made them pay with a super strike that flat footed the keeper.
Alfaro did pull a goal back for the visitors but it proved to be just a consolation as Oviedo held on and progressed to the next round. We must wait until September 18th to see who we face in the next round.
Before that it’s back to Liga Adelante action on Sunday when we make the long trip to Tenerife.
