Fantastic away win
Oviedo remain unbeaten in 2015
Real Oviedo picked up another valuable three points after
turning in a terrific performance in a 4-1 win away at Celta B. After a controlled
first half most of the damage came in the second half.
Sergio Egea kept faith with the same back four as last week
with Charlie retaining his place alongside David Fernandez at the heart of the
defence. In fact the only change from last weeks clash with Ferrol was Omgba
coming in, in place of Dioni who dropped to the substitute’s bench.
It was a bright start to the game as both teams looked to
test each other out and it was in fact the home side that had the first attempt
of any real note after 10 minutes. Borja Iglasias combined with Oviedo old boy
Sene before curling a left footed effort over the bar from the edge of the box.
Oviedo though as has often been the case this season are
deadly in front of goal and took the lead with their first chance. Man of the
match Susaeta whipped in a trademark corner and there was Redondo to head home
his first Oviedo goal. It was exactly what Egea would have wanted and seemed to
settle everybody down as the away side went on to control possession after
that. Oviedo should have doubled their lead on the half hour mark when Susaeta
fizzed in a delightful low cross for Linares but the striker slid in but could
only divert his effort wide. Redondo
then came to the rescue at the other end of the pitch as just on the stroke of
half time the home side whipped in a free kick. Sene seem best placed to head
home but somehow Redondo managed to win the aerial duel despite being second
favourite to head to safety.
Just five minutes into the second half and Oviedo did manage
to double their lead. Borja Valle did well down the left before laying the ball
into Linares. The striker struck a first time shot but Celta B keeper Oscar
Santiago saved, but there was Linares to react first and slot home.
As they often say in football you are at your most
vulnerable when you have just scored and this proved to be the case here as
almost immediately the home side pulled a goal back. Crespo made a good run
down the left and fired in a low cross for Borja Iglasias to nip in between two
defenders and side foot home at the near post.
This seemed to send the game into a panic for about five
minutes, as there was then a glut of chances at both ends. Sene headed over
from a Celta B corner before Linares had another golden chance. Santiago in the
home goal made a complete mess of his clearance handing the ball on a plate to
Linares. The striker then went round him before getting his shot on target but
the effort was tame and a defender managed to get back to clear off the line.
Normal service was resumed though and Oviedo went back to
controlling the game but you always felt a third goal was needed and that
arrived on 69 minutes. Susaeta again the provider with a corner, this time a
deep corner to the far post and there was Borja Valle to rise and nod home.
This settled the game and removed any doubt about where the points were
heading. The icing on the cake came on 77 minutes when a smart move resulted in
Susaeta’s third assist of the game. He layed the ball into the path of
substitute Sergio Garcia to finish smartly, curling round Santiago into the far
corner to complete the scoring.
So another wonderful away performance and three vital
points mean, we now head into the final ten games five points clear of second
place Real Murcia. We are twelve points clear of third place Guijuelo. Next
week sees the first of those ten games as bottom club Marino visit the Carlos
Tartiere. Marino have picked up just three points on the road all season.
Hopefully we can grab another convincing victory.
