Real Oviedo 5 Celta B 1

Real Oviedo thrash lowly Celta B

Real Oviedo keep play off dream alive

Real Oviedo put in a 5 star display and kept their play off dream alive with a dominant performance as they dismantled Celta B at the Carlos Tartiere.
Once again Robles made changes to the starting line up with Sergio Garcia replacing the injured Alain Arroyo. Jon Erice & Hector Simon also came into the midfield replacing Salva Rivas & Ivan Rubio who both dropped to the bench from last week.
Celta B came into this game in poor form after picking up just 1 point from their previous 5 games which has seen them slip to 2nd bottom in the table.
Oviedo were fast to come out of the blocks and were making their intentions clear from the off. They wanted to attack and win the game. Sene tried his luck early on but his effort from outside the box went over the bar. Despite the fast paced moves and attacking play the final ball was lacking in the opening exchanges.
Real Oviedo though was determined to make the breakthrough and that duly arrived on 28 minutes and it was worth the wait. Sene was fouled 25 yards from goal by Celta B defender Kevin. Up stepped Susaeta and curled in a wonderful free kick into the top corner giving Ruben absolutely no chance. It was a top class effort and seemed to settle any nerves there might have been.
This sparked a response from the visitors and Fernan produced their first attempt on goal on 32 minutes from the edge of the area with a decent effort but it was straight at Pol.
It wasn’t long though before Real Oviedo were back on top and 5 minutes before the interval Susaeta got his and Los Carbayones second goal and again it was a long range effort low into the corner. It was another great shot that seemed to bounce awkwardly just in front of Ruben. Half time arrived with the home side 2 goals to the good.
After the break the home side really grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck with a dominant display.  Simon fed a neat through ball to Garcia but he his low shot from a tight angle was a yard wide of the post. Oviedo was beginning to create more and more chances and on 63 minutes Sene grabbed another goal. Susaeta’s corner was punched clear by Ruben to the edge of the box to Annunziata who volleyed 1st time and the ball bounced goal wards and there was Sene to nod home a simple 3rd.
A minute later and Celta B’s day got even worse when defender Galder was sent off for a robust looking challenge on Simon. In all honesty the decision looked a little harsh. Oviedo though were determined to take full advantage. Annunziata burst clear 5 minutes later and was in the box about to shoot but was bought down clumsily by Anton. The referee wasted no time in awarding the penalty and a red card to the Celta B player to reduce them to 9 men. Up stepped Susaeta with the spot kick and dispatched it perfectly into the top scorer for his hat trick and to make the score 4-0. The craziness continued from kick off when a hopeful ball over the top fell to Borja Iglesias and he unleashed a volley into the top corner to pull one back for the 9 men.  So in just under 10 minutes fun we had seen 3 goals, 2 red cards and a penalty. The action was far from over though. Sergio Garcia was desperate to join the party. He somehow shot wide with the goal at his mercy after good play from Erice. Debutant Lucas was also keen to impress after coming on as a substitute and 5 minutes from time he weaved his way down the right hand flank before pulling the ball back for Simon from the edge of the area but his shot was well saved by Ruben. The icing on the cake did arrive in the last minute though when Sergio Diaz got on the score sheet and made it 5 with some neat footwork in the area before a clever finish.
The full time whistle sounded with the score Real Oviedo 5 Celta B 1 to round off a great display by the home side. We have 3 games remaining in which we must maintain this form in all 3 of them if we are to qualify for the play off’s, beginning with a trip to 2nd place Racing Ferrol next Sunday.
