Oviedo trounce Guijuelo in top of the table clash
Superb away victory
Real Oviedo produced a five star performance to sweep aside
Guijuelo at the Estadio Municapal de Guijuelo.
It wouldn’t be a Sergio Egea team sheet without a few
changes and Senor Egea didn’t let us down. Nacho came back into the side at the
expense of Diugui and Dioni was handed a debut after his arrival from Leganes
last week replacing the rested Susaeta. Charlie Dean once again had to make do with
a place on the bench.
This game was billed as one of the most difficult Oviedo has
yet to play as we begin a run of particularly difficult away games. Los
Carbayones arrived in good form with seven wins and two draws from their last
seven league games.
Guijuelo meanwhile came into this game on the back of three
straight defeats as their play off hopes begin to stutter.
Real Oviedo took the lead on 24 minutes and it was that man
Linares who was back on the score sheet tapping in from close range after four
games without a goal. Five minutes
later and Oviedo doubled their lead and this time Linares was the provider
pulling the ball back for Borja Valle to side foot confidently into the top
corner. As if that wasn’t good enough, just three minutes later and Oviedo made
it 3-0. Linares was clumsily challenged in the box giving the referee no option
but to award a penalty. Linares picked himself up and sent the keeper the wrong
way from the spot. That was 3 goals in an eight minute spell.
The second half produced another goal blitz with 3
goals in ten minutes. Oviedo’s fourth goal arrived with 15 minutes left on the
clock. Substitute Sergio Garcia fizzed a low cross into the box and there was
new man Dioni to mark his debut with a well taken finish from 12 yards.
Remarkably Oviedo made it 5-0 three minutes later and again it was Dioni making
it a dream debut with his second strike. A low finish into the corner after
beating his man. Guijuelo grabbed a consolution goal through Nierga on 85
minutes but this wasn’t to deter from what has been a great day at the office
for Real Oviedo. To win 5-1 away from home in any league is incredible but to
do it against one of your promotion rivals is unbelievable. Our next away game
is against another of our rivals in UD Logrones however next week we are back
in action at the Carlos Tartiere when Valladolid B are the visitors where we
will be looking to avenge our 4-3 defeat of earlier in the season.
