Real Oviedo 4 Amorebieta 0

Real Oviedo hammer Amorebieta

Terrific Display as Real  Oviedo progress

Real Oviedo turned on the style as they thumped SD Amorebieta 4-0 at the Carlos Tartiere in front of over 7,500 fans in the 1st round of the Copa del Rey.
Coach Sergio Egea despite making five changes did name a strong starting line up against his Segunda B group 2 opponents.
Goalkeeper Esteban was rested and fellow summer signing Gorka made his competitive debut. There were also changes in the full back positions as Diegui and Oscar came in to replace Nacho Lopez and Dani Bautista. There were two more changes in advanced positions with Diego Cervero replacing Linares and Sergio Garcia slotting in for Generelo. Egea did have his safety net of leaving the players to miss out on the substitute’s bench should they be needed.
This was not to be the case though as Oviedo romped home. The home side took the lead after just 16 minutes when Sergio Garcia finished brilliantly with his left foot  a few yards inside the penalty box following Susaeta’s bustling run into the box. It was a fine finish low to the keepers left. There were many more chances before the half time interval but the score remained 1-0 as the whistle sounded.
Real Oviedo were far more clinical in front of goal after the break. A wonderful counter attack resulted in the second goal. Again Susaeta and Sergio Garcia were involved. Susaeta picked up the ball superbly in his own half before holding off a challenge and playing a pinpoint ball out to Sergio Garcia on the right who skipped past a defender like he wasn’t there into the area. He then held his nerve before looking up and feeding the ball back to Eneko, who from close to the penalty spot smashed the ball home low and hard into the corner of the net. It was a special goal for Los Carbayones. On the hour mark the home side put the tie completely out of their visitors reach and added a third. Susaeta whipped in what are now becoming one of his trademark free kicks and there was Diego Cervero to rise above his man and head home from 6 yards past Oier in the Amorebieta goal.
The icing on the cake came with just ten minutes to go when Sergio Garcia made it four. Neat play down the right flank resulted in youngster Lucas whipping in a clever cross for the unmarked Garcia to finish left footed into the roof of the net.
All in all a very satisfactory night for the home side. A very pleasing display with a very pleasing score line. Along with the obvious great team play, Sergio Garcia, Nestor Susaeta and Eneko’s individual performances must have pleased Egea.
The result has been made even better by the fact we have  received a bye from the 2nd round so we jump straight into the 3rd round. This means we are just one round away from a mouth watering tie against one of the clubs who are playing in European competition this season. What a prospect that could be, welcoming Barcelona or the European champions Real Madrid to the Carlos Tartiere.
This weekend however we must focus on our game against Burgos where we will look to make it consecutive home league victory’s.
