Real Oviedo 4 Guijuelo 0

Real Oviedo brush aside Guijuelo to go top

Los Carbayones turn in terrific performance

Real Oviedo dismantled league leaders Guijuelo in a ruthless performance to move above them to go top of the Segunda B group 1 table.
Coach and birthday boy Sergio Egea kept faith with the same starting eleven that had won at Cultural Leonesa last week.
Real Oviedo turned on the style in front of over 13,500 as the excellent crowd were richly entertained. This performance was the icing on the cake to go with the San Mateo festivities.
Talk all week was of a top of the table clash against tough opponents. It took just 6 minutes though for Real Oviedo to hit the front. Generelo leaping like a salmon to meet Susaeta’s corner to spectacularly heed past Garabato in the Guijuelo goal.
Oviedo doubled their lead on 38 minutes when after some great one touch passing between Susaeta & Font. Font played a perfect through ball to Linares who expertly curled the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0. It was one-way traffic as Oviedo went forward with waves of attack.
The 2nd half was more of the same and on the hour mark the game was wrapped up. Sergio Garcia bursting down the left to cross into Linares who took the ball in his stride on his chest before flicking it past the keeper with the outside of his foot to go in off the post. Another great strike. It was four with a quarter of an hour to go. Sergio Garcia again the provider after he twisted and turned on the left before firing in a low cross for Susaeta to finish 1st time with his left foot.
The crowd were ecstatic at such a dominant display. It was our biggest test of the season and we passed it with flying colours by turning in easily our best display of the season. An added bonus is going to the top of the table. The hard work of staying there starts now.
It is, as you would imagine at this stage of the season tight at the top. Coruxo kept up their fine start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Union Langreo and Celta B are back up to 3rd spot with at 2-0 away win at Zamora. UD Logrones are impressing. They won 1-0 at 10 man Compostela. Real Murcia also seem to be adjusting to life in the Segunda B with a 1-0 victory over Lealtad. Astorga picked up another point in Saturdays other game against Marino as they shared four goals. Real Aviles and Racing Ferrol both picked up valuable 2-1 wins over Burgos and struggling Tropezon respectively. Valladolid B won away 2-1 at Somozas. Gijon B remain at the bottom of the table after a pulsating 3-3 draw with Cultural Leonesa. A game which had 3 goals and a red card in the last few minutes.
Next week we travel to face Valladolid B looking to maintain our excellent start to the season.
