Real Oviedo picked up what in the end turned out to be a
valuable point from the trip to Las Gaunas in a 1-1 draw with UD Logrones. With
Real Murcia surprisingly losing 1-0 at home to Coruxo this result was enough to
stretch Oviedo’s lead at the top of the table to seven points.
Sergio Egea made two changes to last weeks romp over
Valladolid B. Nacho Lopez came in for Johannesson for a straight swap at right
back. Egea also felt the need to shore up the midfield with pocket battleship
Omgba coming in for Susaeta.
The hosts took the lead after just 11 minutes when after a
bit of a mix up in the Oviedo defence, Chevi nipped in with Oviedo claiming for
offside and finished neatly at the near post to beat Esteban giving him no
chance.
Oviedo created a few chances with Linares probably having
the best of them heading narrowly wide. Esteban made three or four very good
saves after this as Logrones looked to double their lead but the veteran
stopper was rewarded for his brilliance when midway through the second period
Oviedo equalised. A floated ball was played in to Linares who had to stretch to
get any contact, he managed to divert the ball into the path of Dioni who found
the roof of the net from close range to send the travelling contingent of
Carbayones in the corner of the stadium wild. It was Dioni’s third goal since
his recent arrival from Leganes. Just the sort of form we hoped from him.
Both sides had further chances to win the game but the
whistle sounded and it is a satisfactory result for Oviedo and its another game
ticked off. We now have just twelve games left and a seven point gap at the top
of the table over Murcia who as mentioned earlier went down at home to Coruxo.
Racing Ferrol are another side in good form going into this
weekend with ten points from the last twelve available however they slipped up
2-1 at home to Somozas. Guijuelo moved back up to within a point of the top
four after a 3-1 home success over Real Aviles. Valladolid B bounced back from
defeat to us last week with a 1-0 success over Gijon B who now find themselves
in 19th place. Compostela won 1-0 away at Celta B to move up to
seventh. Cultural and Burgos played out a goalless draw and Langreo and Astorga
ended 1-1.
At the bottom of the table Marino picked up a rare and much
needed victory over Tropezon but are still seven points behind Gijon B in 19th.
Lealtad moved up a place with a massive win over Zamora which drags them
further into the mix with a 1-0 win. A goalkeeping error for the winning goal.
Next week we face Racing Ferrol at the Carlos Tartiere
where hopefully we will complete 90 minutes at the first time of asking and
pick up three more precious points.
