Play off hopes takes a knock
Midweek trip ends in defeat
Real Oviedo’s play off hopes took a knock as they went down
3-2 in the re-arranged fixture against Coruxo at O Vao.
Again Roberto Robles made changes to the starting line up
with Hector Simon coming back into midfield in place of Sergio Garcia and Diego
Cervero made his long awaited return to the starting line up. Alain dropped to
the substitute to accommodate Cervero in what was “The Doc’s” 1st
start for several weeks.
It didn’t take Cervero long to mark his return with a goal
as he put Real Oviedo in front on 2 minutes with a neat turn and shot. The lead
didn’t last long though and Coruxo equalised just 4 minutes later when Alberto
Garcia nodded in from a free kick. Oviedo were then reduced to 10 men on the
half hour mark when Right back David Alba was dismissed for 2 yellow cards. A
huge blow so early in the game.
Coruxo made their numerical advantage count as they took the
lead 5 minutes before the interval when Mateo Miguez side footed home from 10
yards.
Disaster struck soon into the 2nd half as Rafa
Mella made it 3-1 to the home side, finishing well from the edge of the box
into the top corner.
Real Oviedo were stunned but did make a fight of it. Josep
Sene pulled a goal back when he tapped in from 1 yard after Fernando in the
Coruxo goal failed to hold Susaeta’s long range effort. Sene nearly rescued a
point for Los Carbayones but his curling left footed effort from the edge of
the box went agonizingly wide of the post.
This result is obviously a huge set back for Real
Oviedo but we have the chance to put this result behind us with another game at
the weekend when we travel to play Compostela.
